  4. How do I create sub-groups within my groups?

Staff can now create Sub-Groups within a group to match seating arrangements, table groups, or small-group work. Sub-Groups make it quick to award points or add comments for students who are working together.

⚙️ Before You Begin

  • Sub-Groups are created and edited in the PBIS Rewards web portal. Once created, they can also be used in the PBIS Rewards Staff App.
  • Sub-Groups are shared with the group, so other staff who have the group favorited will see them too.
  • Each student can belong to only one Sub-Group at a time, and each Sub-Group name must be unique within the group.

➕ Create a Sub-Group

  1. Select Groups in the left-side menu, then choose the group you want to add Sub-Groups to.
  2. Select the Settings gear icon in the upper right corner.
  3. Select + Create New Sub-Group.
  4. Enter a name for the Sub-Group.
  5. Select the students to add to the Sub-Group.
  6. Click Create Sub-Group to save.

Create a Sub-Group

Note: When you create your first Sub-Group, an Unassigned Sub-Group is also created. Any students who have not been placed in a Sub-Group appear here, at the bottom of the page.

🛠️ Sub-Group Tools

Each Sub-Group includes the following tools:

  • Select All: Selects every student in the Sub-Group so you can award points or add a comment for all of them at once.
  • Actions: Opens a menu of options for managing the Sub-Group and its students.
  • Add Student: Adds a student to the Sub-Group. If the student is already in another Sub-Group, they are moved.
  • Expand/Collapse: Shows or hides the students in the Sub-Group. Sub-Groups are expanded by default.

How your PDF is ordered depends on what you select:

  • No Sub-Groups selected: The full group prints in alphabetical order.
  • All Sub-Groups selected: The full group prints in Sub-Group order.
  • Specific Sub-Groups selected: Only those Sub-Groups print, in the order they appear in your group.

Note: Printing a single Sub-Group does not create a separate Sub-Group QR code. Only the full group QR code is generated.

📱 Sub-Groups in the PBIS Rewards Staff App

  • Sub-Groups created in the web portal appear in the Staff App in the same order.
  • Staff can select all students in a Sub-Group, or the whole group, to award points quickly.
